The Dog Days of Summer
Adam and I want to include our entire families in our wedding. However, we each have a little sibling who cannot attend! Mine is named Luxi, but she also responds to Luxe, Bebe, and Bebe Seester. 🙂
About four years ago, my parents came home one night to find a teeny tiny puppy in their house—compliments of my brother. My dad could hold her in the palm of his hand! Like our first and only other dog, she was rescued and had nowhere else to go. She’s a beagle/spaniel mix, which (I would passionately state) is the most beautiful mix ever!
Like all cute creatures, Luxi has a very unique personality. She’s a happy dog, and she finds joy in running, playing ball, and cuddling! Adam says that she’s also the most sensitive and emotional dog he’s met. For example, if my mom goes out of town, Luxi refuses to eat, play, or walk until she returns. She’ll sigh and make sad eyes at us. If the hunger strike is too long to bear, Luxe will wait till everyone else goes to bed, and then secretly (so she thinks) eat her food. When our mom returns, Luxi always gives her the most ecstatic greeting, which includes bringing Mom every toy she can find, running excited circles around the house, and nuzzling into her the rest of the evening.
Adam also has a doggie sibling—an adorable shih-tzu who is 12 years old! We plan to include them in our wedding, but we haven’t figured out how yet. We’ve thought of displaying their framed photos on a table, using their pictures on our table number cards, and sneaking them into the ceremony or reception hall! How have you seen beloved pets incorporated into weddings?
