Adam and I are babysitting my puppy for the next two weeks! We flew with her from the suburbs of Florida to the hectic city of Chicago. We walked with her to Grant Park and Buckingham Fountain last night (both are dog-friendly) where we spotted a bunny! Unfortunately, about a dozen toddlers also saw the bunny and chased him into a small grassy area.
Because this is true, I said, “Aww, Luxi likes bunnies!” The tots walked away one by one, since they lost sight of the bun. Adam waited till all the kids left and beckoned me to come over. He had found the bunny and wanted Luxi to meet it! So sweet.
What I should have told him is, “Luxi likes to chase bunnies and scare the poops out of them.” Equally accurate, but much more specific.
I shall make these cookies in honor of the frightened little bunny. I kept Luxi away from him, but I’m sure the shrieking toddlers were trauma enough.
Luxe and I are going to have a busy week! We’re going to check out all the dog-friendly attractions and parks we can find. If you have any recommendations, we’d love to hear them!
Berries and cuteness and bunnies on cupcakes…
There are a few of my favorite things!
And they’re all on this cute little card.
Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone!
I haven’t done one of these posts in a while!
We’ve been hard at work on our “thank you” cards. It reminds me of all the work we put into our invitations—especially when I look at all the envelopes, hand-addressed and laid out to let the ink dry. It’s slow going, mostly because we didn’t expect it to be so much work…and I’m kind of over doing any wedding-related labor. My only motivation is that I really do want to thank people. The stack of 200 note cards is daunting, but when I think about the individuals, I’m moved to keep on trucking.
It’d be nice if we had some cute “thank you” cards like these:
I couldn’t find a picture of our actual thank you notes, but they are bunny-less. I’d say they’re a cross between these two cards:
Both from Target
Hope everyone’s having a happy Sunday Bunday!
It’s less than two weeks till the wedding, and I’m feeling easy-breezy. We have lots to do—programs, menus, place cards, table numbers, favors, gifts for our parents and attendants. Besides the gifts, I’m not too concerned about finishing the rest. People will come; food will be served; and we will be married!!! Woooohoooo! Stay tuned for all the last-minute hoopla. 🙂
I went to my second bridal shower yesterday, hosted by Adam’s side of the family! We received a lot of bunny goodies: bunny cookie cutters, bunny spatulas, bunny dish towels, etc. I realized that our showers are falling at the perfect time—right before Easter, AKA bunny mania! All the paraphernalia led me to wonder how real bunnies feel about their pretend counterparts.
I’m not sure if that’s a kiss or a chomp on the sniffer, but it’s pretty darn cute either way.
Since moving into our new place, the topic of pets has come up almost daily. It doesn’t help that we live a few blocks from The Anti-Cruelty Society, an animal shelter with cute puppies and grown-up dogs just waiting to be adopted. But a dog isn’t so travel-friendly, and lately we’ve been a couple on the go. Perhaps this would be a more portable alternative:
Tuck one into your extra pair of shoes, and you’re ready to jet set with your pet! Happy Sunday, everyone! 🙂
Imagine one of these:
Filled with these:
Adam and I saw a stand of Peeps Bunnies at Jewel and thought, “Voila! Instant favors!” They come in pink, orange, and yellow—how perfect is that? We still haven’t chosen from our ridiculous list of favor ideas, but we’ll be adding one more item to the list tonight.
Speaking of gift registries, I was walking around Macy’s looking for dinnerware to add to ours. I studied one plain, white collection after another, and then something cutesy and colorful caught my eye:
Don’t you worry—this isn’t the collection I picked! I just appreciate their tribute to the cotton-tailed kind. Look at that adorable bunny creamer! And this sweet bunny sugar bowl:
I dunno about that rooster, though. I just can’t see what he’s so surprised about. And what’s with the creepy cat? “Don’t mind me, human. I’m just watching you bake. Yeeeeessss, mooooore sugarrrrrr.” *Taps toes mischievously along rim of bowl*
I dig the country bunnies, though—mostly because they’re the only bunnies I’ve seen in the dinnerware section. If Lenox comes out with sleek, contemporary bunnies in the next few weeks, you know they’ll be on my wishlist! Happy Sunday Bunday, and have a fantastic week!
Yesterday, we officially started apartment-hunting in the city! I already have my fingers tightly crossed for one beauty. I know I shouldn’t—it’s so early in the search—but if you had seen the dark wood floors and the entire wall of windows…well, you’d be the one with the finger joints a-poppin’! When I came home, I began research on interior design ideas, which somehow led to research on whether or not bunnies make good apartment pets. Which led to pictures of adorable bunny faces.
Which is when I realized there’s only one thing cuter than a little bunny face.
[Pause for comedic timing.] A little bunny booty!
May I please have this printed on all of my correspondence from now on? Or at least on the leasing contract that we’re signing in my dreams?
Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!
One of my favorite gifts to give my students are blank notebooks, and they’re one of my favorite gifts to receive as well! Page after fresh new page of possibilities; just begging to be written, doodled, and scribbled on. That may explain why I loved these escort cards from Weddingbee. Mrs. Cupcake made blank booklets laden with ribbon and labeled with each guest’s name to serve as a place card and gift. Just look how beautifully these turned out:
And what might a bunnified version look like?
Check out the chubby ears! These would be easy to re-create by covering mini composition books with fabric in our wedding colors. I’d write the guests’ names on tags and attach each one to a bow-tied cord. If only Adam and I were having a million weddings, I could make all of my favor ideas a reality!
